What is rolling?

Rolling is using balls to massage the body. It is like a deep tissue massage and in you are in control. We use pliable and grippy rubber balls to massage away your aches and tension. Lets Roll NZ teaches rolling using different techniques during the class to help release the build up of tension and stress. This self-care massage works flexibly over the different areas of your body, often releasing tension you didn’t know you have.

There can be other benefits beside the immediate muscle relief. Rolling out some of the muscles associated with the respiratory system can enhance breathing. The pressure from the balls and movement help refresh muscles lifting energy levels and mobility. Everyday stress creates tension in the body. Rolling helps reduce this tension, taking the body into the rest/digest/recovery mode. Over time rolling helps improve awareness of your own body, lifting posture and performance.

You may have heard of foam rollers, sports balls and other hard or hand-held devices. The difference with the grippy rubber balls is that they replicate the thumb or elbow of a massage therapist. They can get into smaller areas and navigate bony landmarks, relieving stress and tension way more effectively.

Who can benefit from rolling?

Today’s lifestyles are getting more hectic, sedentary and consuming. Whether you are sitting most of the day working on a computer, on your feet all day, a busy parent or active sporting type, you will benefit from the self-care of rolling.
